InSIMerdeka

For over 300 years, Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch, English, and Japanese, who exploited its natural resources and oppressed its people. Despite this, the spirit of resistance among Indonesians remained strong. Throughout the colonial period, Indonesian intellectuals and nationalists organized and spread ideas of freedom and self-determination. Youth groups and nationalist organizations played key roles in rallying the people's spirit.

On the morning of August 17, 1945, Soekarno and Hatta stood before a modest gathering in Jakarta and proclaimed Indonesia's independence. The news spread quickly, igniting a sense of unity and determination across the archipelago.
